Structural Cellular Automata Geometries

The continuous quest for innovative methods in architectural design has driven advancements in structural optimization and aesthetic refinement. This paper investigates the efficacy of Cellular Automata (CA) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) diffusion models in generating structurally and aesthetically appealing architectural geometries. The study adopts a multi-stage methodological approach, beginning with the generation of 2D patterns through CA algorithms within the Grasshopper environment. Subsequent integration of AI-driven diffusion models facilitates an expansive exploration of design possibilities. Depthmap technologies are employed to translate these designs into 3D models, which are then imported into Fusion360 and BIM. By utilizing depth map technologies for 3D model translation, this study addresses the gap between conceptual design and structural performance. The findings underscore the potential of these technologies to revolutionize architectural innovation, facilitating the creation of sustainable, efficient, and visually compelling designs.
