Systemic Approach For Rigid Building Envelope Concept: Permanence In Face of Climate Changes
This research arises from an imminent need for adaptation in buildings in response to accelerated climate changes, dealing specially with buildings that hold a symbolic value and imagery that gives a rigid quality to their envelopes. Therefore, the concept of the 'rigid envelope' is proposed. This concept highlights a potential conflict between the need for adaptation and the objective of preservation. To achieve the research aim of identifying sufficient parameters to characterize a rigid envelope, a Systematic Literature Review was employed as the methodological approach. A diverse set of parameters was identified and classified, providing insights into the behaviors of rigid envelopes from the General Systems Theory perspective.
