Enhancing Consistency and Flexibility of Bim Data Management With Digital Automation Solutions

In recent years, the construction industry has witnessed a swift adoption of offsite manufacturing and distributed construction methods, highlighting the need for efficient data management practices. However, given the intricate nature of information nested within a Building Information Model (BIM), achieving data consistency and flexibility may not always be guaranteed, especially when dealing with version control and parametric modeling. Conventionally, manual version control processes are employed for updating BIM models with limited or no automation implemented, leading to difficulties in tracking changes and ensuring data accuracy. Therefore, this research proposes an automated version control and parametric modeling approach within a BIM environment, demonstrated with a sample BIM model for modular construction. The proposed automated version control and parametric modeling method significantly improved data consistency and efficiency, minimizing manual updates and errors in BIM models.
