The Digital Historical Reconstruction of Largo da Carioca: Graphic Thinking As A Basis For The Methodology

Abstract. This essay is part of an ongoing master's research titled “Digital Historical Reconstruction of Largo da Carioca: An Analysis of Urban Transformations through Virtual Reality,” developed in Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro / Programa de Pós-Graduação em Urbanismo, Brazil. The research aims to develop, apply, and discuss a methodology for urban digital historical reconstruction in the city of Rio de Janeiro. The territorial focus in question is Largo da Carioca, specifically between the 19th and 21st centuries, a period marked by intense urban transformations in the area. This article seeks to discuss the methodological stages of the project conception process, addressing topics such as the development of conception drawings, 3D modeling, virtual reality, and immersive experiences.
