Weaving The Tapestry of Alexandria: A Comprehensive Approach To Preserving Alexandria's Cultural Identity and Mitigating Sea Level Rise Through Innovative Floating City Design Using Grasshopper, Maya and Rhino
This study addresses the upcoming danger of sea level rise in Alexandria, with a particular attention on the projected SLR of 0.5-1 meter that could potentially lead to the displacement of more than half of its residents. The research seeks to develop a lasting environment for displaced residents that embodies the essence of the city. The method involves thoroughly examining Alexandria's past, important sites, and cultural development to guide the creation of a new urban area. The study analyzed worldwide strategies to address sea level rise, determining that a floating city, Patriam, is the optimal solution because of scarce land resources. Using computerized methods, the research suggested a floating city layout that incorporates innovative structural technologies. The prototype seeks to both stop displacement and protect Alexandria's cultural identity, providing a blueprint for other coastal cities dealing with the same issues.
