Teaching and Learning Methodology In The Prototyping and Segmentation of Structures Under The Minimal Surfaces Method
This paper consolidates research on a teaching methodology in architecture through prototypes and segmentation of structures, based on computational modeling inspired by biological patterns and minimal surfaces. This research focuses on the teaching and learning of computational design and digital fabrication in architecture, using a parametric algorithms workshop with the theme of shell-like structures. The components of the methodology include a focus on learning competencies, surveys of student perception of their prior knowledge regarding computer-aided design programs, spatial cognition, and practical understanding of biological patterns in nature. This educational project has integrated and fostered creative thinking, student autonomy, and the development of cognitive skills for innovation in architecture through computational modeling using mesh segmentation and prototyping.
