Teaching Methods of Biomimetic Architecture In Brazil: Challenges Current Affairs and Perspectives
The article presents a brief overview of biodigital architecture in undergraduate courses in Brazil, highlighting the difficulties in approaching the theme, for implementing and maintaining digital laboratories, at the same time that it reports on a biomimetic didactic-pedagogical experience developed in a theoretical discipline, whose emphasis is Theory and Contemporary Architecture. It methodologically postulates investigative architectural proposals contemplating the concept of biomimetic morphogenesis, understood as the comparative and speculative study of the materiality of biological organisms – formal, structural, functional and behavioral aspects – and their emulation aiming at the technical, constructive and formal efficiency of architecture. Biomimetic architectural proposals are created based on architectural or urban environmental issues tangible to the Brazilian reality, emphasizing ecologically sustainable materialities, reducing environmental impacts and strengthening biomimetic architecture as a didactic-pedagogical instrument.
