The Convergence of Bioinspired Design, Algorithmic Design and Digital Manufacturing: A State of The Art

This article presents a state-of-the-art review on the convergence of three pivotal areas of knowledge: bio-inspired design, algorithmic design, and digital manufacturing, with a particular focus on architectural design. We term this convergence "Phygital Ecology," a concept that encapsulates the integration of physical and digital realms. The study encompasses research from the past five years, confined to the CuminCAD universe. Using a targeted keyword search, we selected relevant articles and architectural examples that exemplify this interdisciplinary field. Likewise, some relevant and recent case studies were chosen that we understand are representative of Physical Ecology.
