Approach To Image-To-3d Modeling For Utilizing Ai-Generated Pattern Images Within Bim
This study proposes an automated method for converting AI-generated pattern images into 3D models for direct use in architectural design within a Building Information Modeling (BIM) system. The approach efficiently transforms 2D images into usable 3D models for architectural patterns. Using algorithms implemented in Dynamo for Revit, the method calculates Z-Depth based on image brightness, ensuring seamless connections and appropriate scaling. The process involves generating pattern images with AI and converting them to 3D models, which are then integrated into curtain wall design modeling. The methodology demonstrates rapid 3D geometry creation, with each geometry completed within 2-5 minutes from input images generated in under 5 seconds using generative AI. While model accuracy may vary with pattern complexity, this approach enables the swift materialization of conceptual pattern design ideas, amplifying generative AI's rapid idea generation effect and enhancing the design process efficiency.
