Digital Urban Content Generation By Reusing Procedural Buildings Parts
Procedural modelling of buildings is currently used for urban space generation to support digital content creation in many industrial applications such as interactive entertainment, urban design or urban simulations. In this work we propose a set of user-friendly interactive modeling editing tools for the use of this technique. We focus on reusing parts of procedural building, previously created, that can be smoothly integrated into the new target building. The challenge is to preserve in a consistent way the procedural rules of the model. For that, we implement graph-based operations over the hierarchy rules to select and load the new parts. Our implementation is completely interactive, resulting in a user-friendly modeling session. Our results show that new urban contents can be obtained easily by reusing already designed rules. We believe that our work may contribute for fast prototyping digital urban contents in any of the wide range applications it has.
