Sympoiesis Smart Coat
Looking back twenty years; we would find a world without smartphones, smart buildings, smart cities, social media, cryptocurrencies, Siri, and metaverse. We are a virtualization of humans where the physical bodies are transformed into zeros and ones. The traditional architectural space has been melted. To design a new generation of architectural space, despite digital technology in design and fabrication, stereotypical design and conventional materials still retain their power. The role of an architect is not more than drafting instructions for buildings. The ‘Smart Coat’ project takes inspiration from pavilions, which are test applications of architecture. Pavilion data forms the basis of the 'Smart Coat' design and production process. The project aims to research forms from inside to outside, from the smallest unit to the larger unit, with human and object interaction, designing and making process which is intertwined in the action of artisan's hand.
